Upstream Architectures

Six surfaces, one thesis — intervening at the layer where perception is shaped before anyone believes they are choosing. Read the program as one statement traversed through six connected surfaces.

The system. Seven surfaces — four defend against malign upstream shaping, two construct beneficial upstream structure, one institutional vehicle at the centroid. Spokes from each surface into the institutional centroid make the program coherent.

Read the program as one statement. Each surface names the upstream structure it intervenes in, the architecture by which it intervenes, and the downstream effect that becomes possible.

Errorfect

live · DACRI L1 · white paper

The first published protocol of DACRI — a sequential disruption methodology for inspecting cognitive operators hidden in everyday vocabulary. Escalating disruption (orthographic, phonological, syllabary, morphological) surfaces what associations a word is loading before its user has consciously evaluated the claim. Perfect → Errorfect surfaces the unspoken standard the word installs. Normal → Ormal exposes a sorting rule masquerading as a measurement. Control → Troll surfaces the threat-response substrate beneath what reads as competence. Not vocabulary replacement — a repeatable inspection move applied at the place a word is being read.

AcePaste

live · 100% client-side · no transit

Removes zero-width spaces, bidi overrides, variation selectors, tag-range characters, smart-quote drift, and AI-generated markup debris from text passed through it. 100% local — no servers, no transit, no path by which paste content leaves the device. The privacy commitment is an architectural fact, not a policy claim. The harmful payload exists upstream of any human or downstream AI parser; AcePaste removes it at the moment of paste.

TrackRSmackR

live · MV3 extension · no telemetry · no account

Intercepts cookies before they touch storage, classifies via a local policy engine, encrypts non-essential cookies in a dual-chamber AES-GCM vault, and decays them on configurable timers. Anti-fingerprinting controls (uniform persona, entropy normalization, blocklist) sit alongside a real-time intelligence panel — threat posture, signal pressure, drift alerts, deception probe detection. No servers, no cloud sync, no telemetry, no account. Tracker mechanisms shape behavior by constructing identity-fragments and serving them back as targeted environments; removing the substrate of the construction at arrival prevents the downstream environment from being constructed against the user.

iv · adversarial cognition

SCRIM Compression-Class Deception Mesh

forthcoming · companion paper · CCDM category

A periphery mirage, a behavioral glitch maze, and deep decoy systems sit between attackers and real production infrastructure. Reconnaissance hits decoys before any real fingerprint is acquired. Stochastic glitch behaviors model real device failure distributions — statistically indistinguishable from genuinely broken hardware. The architecture compresses attacker effort into a controlled environment the way a reentry vehicle dumps kinetic energy into a bow shock: friction at the adversary's perceptual layer, where what they see costs them time without consuming defender capacity proportionally.

Polygonal Minds

live · sorted.quest · architecture paper forthcoming

Each profile is a polygon — a multi-axis cognitive shape derived from behavioral signal, system-assigned, immutable within a controlled drift envelope. Color is deterministic from the vector, not chosen. Placement is automated: every group has a declared void it fills, not a credential it gates. Form siblings appear immediately on entry; cognitive opposites and mission pairs follow as identity stabilizes. Mass-audience platforms reward profiles toward population mean and penalize cognitive shape; here the compressed shape becomes the structural reason for placement and recognition.

vi · physical-spatial perception

RF-SIS RF-Derived Spatial Intelligence System

execution phase · v1.3-TES-1.2 · run logs forthcoming

Converts RF perturbations into a probabilistic spatial field, augments with attention proxies, projects multi-branch temporal futures. Outputs are non-visual and entity-aware — probabilistically anchored, not optically reconstructed. Bound by eight normative requirements: physics-bound outputs, edge-first privacy (raw RF stays local), uncertainty exposure on every output, fail-safe bias in safety-critical modes, full auditability of alerting decisions. The architecture extends perception into a sensing modality not previously instrumented for safety, care, or environmental optimization — constructed before existing surveillance-economy patterns can colonize the modality.

ThinkWell Labs meta-architecture node · hybrid posture

live · twl.today · holds the program

The lab itself is a piece of the program. Coherent bodies of work compound; scattered output does not. ThinkWell Labs is the upstream structure that makes downstream work — citations, collaborations, sustained publication — compound rather than dissipate. The institution holds the program, sustains its publication cadence, and provides a citation surface for the body of work; the lab's existence as a coherent research program rather than a portfolio of unrelated projects is itself the load-bearing intervention at this scale.

methodology · the pentagon binding all six

Five criteria. Work belongs only if it satisfies all of them.

Restrictive enough to keep the program coherent; permissive enough to absorb new domains as they become legible. The pentagon is the lab's methodological coverage rendered in the same visual grammar — node and edge — that the program uses for cognitive shape.

  1. Identifies an upstream structure. Names a specific structural mechanism that shapes downstream perception or decision before the affected party has consciously evaluated anything.
  2. Intervenes architecturally, not by policy or trust. Built into the structure of the system, not requested as voluntary compliance from another party. Trust through architecture, not promises.
  3. Defends against malign shaping or constructs beneficial shaping. Two complementary postures. Defending makes manipulation visible and reversible. Constructing builds upstream structures whose downstream effects are aligned with what people would consciously choose.
  4. Exposes uncertainty rather than concealing it. Outputs carry confidence states, environment tags, failure modes, open questions. Silent overconfidence is treated as a fault.
  5. Is open to inspection. Code, architecture, methodology, reasoning — documented for inspection by anyone, adversarial review included. The program does not depend on obscurity for its integrity.
forward direction · in active development

The methodology is not closed. The work is durable rather than urgent.

Most upstream structures took decades to settle into their current configurations; the corresponding architectural responses will take comparable time. The following are in active development.

  • DACRI L2+Disruption levels beyond the linguistic. Errorfect is DACRI Level 1. The full protocol contains additional modalities targeting layers of cognitive operation beyond word-form. Future levels publish as standalone protocols, each linked back to the program statement.
  • Polygonal MindsFull architecture publication. Placement engine, form-sibling vs. opposite-pair sequencing, Edge Convergence Node dynamics, the seven-axis void characterization framework, and the residual-gap-as-discovery-signal mechanism.
  • RF-SISDeployment artifacts. The system is in execution phase. The next document is the first run log emitted under measurement. Subsequent publications will articulate empirical findings from real-world deployment in security, care, and automation contexts.
  • SCRIMFederated TTP intelligence formalism. Differential-privacy mechanism, cross-tenant baseline normalization protocol, and open-data architecture for the network-effect TTP corpus.
  • cross-programSynthesis publications. How privacy commitments scale as projects accrete · how cognitive identity legibility (Polygonal Minds) interacts with ambient identity sensing (RF-SIS) · how linguistic disruption (DACRI) applies to attacker-facing language in deception environments (SCRIM).
engage · cite · fork · adapt

Adaptations of program methodology to new domains are the program's preferred mode of growth.

Outputs publish under permissive licenses (CC BY 4.0 for written work). What matters is that the upstream-architectural posture spreads, not that the lab gets credit.
